UPPCL to replace over Rs 11 Lakh ‘faulty’ smart meters by 2027
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) will replace over 11 lakh outdated smart meters by March 2027 under the revamped distribution sector scheme. These 2G/3G meters, installed by EESL, faced significant issues including widespread disconnections and integration failures, leading to a substantial waste of public funds. The replacement with advanced smart prepaid meters will cost an additional Rs 682 crore.
